I’m on a spaghetti kinda kick! Can you tell?! LOL. I have been really utilizing ground turkey lately because it has been on sale for $2.67 a pound at Walmart and I am all about simple and affordable recipes! And this recipe is just that! These meatballs only have two main ingredients and are SOO simple to make! And of course pretty tasty 🙂 You could also substitute the meat if you wanted, and use beef instead of turkey for example! I’m also really excited about this recipe because you can pair meatballs with so many things! This week I’m doing the classic “spaghetti and meatballs” by pairing them with chickpea spaghetti noodles and pasta sauce! I think they would also be really tasty paired with some cauliflower mashed potatoes and green beans! In my family, one of our favorite combinations was always meatloaf or ham balls with mashed potatoes and green beans. I’d mix it all together, add some ketchup, and it was pretty darn tasty! Sounds kind of weird maybe, but don’t knock it till ya try it! 🙂 So this makes me super excited to try a “healthified” version! Below are the ingredients I used to do the “spaghetti and meatballs” version this week for my lunch:
Here’s a little money saver tip, go for the store/generic brands! I think sometimes we think that only the name brand items have the “healthier” or lighter versions of things, but I’ve found SO many food items that are the “Great Value” (Walmart) brand that have the same nutritional information and are WAYY cheaper! So be sure to always compare! 🙂
Alright, so let’s get to how I made these Turkey Meatballs! Below is the turkey I used. You can get lower fat, but this specific percentage has been on sale and the higher fat are usually cheaper. Higher fat also really helps with flavor retention, so 90/10 is a pretty happy medium!
STEP 1: Put your pound of raw turkey into a medium sized mixing bowl. (My bowl was a 2.5 quart Pyrex mixing bowl for reference.) Use a fork to cut it up and stir into a “dough-like” mixture. ?? Not quite sure what to call it but I have a picture for reference! Add 1 egg.
STEP 2: Mix the egg into the raw turkey until you have the egg evenly incorporated. Add seasonings. I personally used Mrs. Dash Onion & Herb which was a perfect combination for this recipe! If you haven’t noticed yet, I love Mrs. Dash seasonings! I like to just keep it really simple and these seasonings are perfect for that.
STEP 3: Time to make your meatballs! I personally made 15 meatballs from this recipe, and they were about golf ball sized I would say. They do get smaller as they cook through, so if you want them to be bigger I would recommend making 9 or 10! I simply used my hands to roll them into balls and placed them on my baking sheet. I would also recommend lining it with foil to make clean up easier! 🙂
STEP 4: Bake in the oven at 350°F for 20-25 minutes. I cut one of them in half when I took them out to be sure that they were done! There will be a lot of fat on the pan FYI, but I just took them off of the pan and put them into my containers with spaghetti noodles (since I was meal prepping these for the week) But if serving right away, just take the meatballs off of the pan and throw the fat away! This is why I recommend the foil for easy clean up 🙂
And that’s it, I told you they were pretty easy! 🙂 I’m super excited to try these out with other meal combinations and let you guys know how it goes!
I meal prepped these for my lunch for this week, so while the meatballs were in the oven I cooked my chickpea spaghetti noodles and then separated them out into 5 containers. And then when the meatballs were done I put 3 meatballs in each container. I will add the spaghetti sauce right before I reheat it every day. Super simple and quick meal to prep for the week 🙂

Spaghetti noodles, meatballs & spaghetti sauce: TOTAL = $8.40 / 5 meals = $1.68 per meal!
*I only used 1/3 cup of spaghetti sauce per day, so you will have spaghetti sauce left over!

- 1 pound of ground turkey
- 1 egg
- Mrs. Dash Onion & Herb seasoning
- In a medium bowl, mix ground turkey with egg until you obtain an even consistency.
- Add the desired amount of seasoning and mix until consistent.
- Form mixture into golf ball sized meatballs and place on baking sheet.
- Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
